Nails Through Bad Times

I just got done moving and all of my nails broke off!!! It was a sudden thing so I didn't have time to try to prevent the breakage. They are so short that I wanted to cry when I tried to file them out to try to make them look decent again. I won't be posting anything until they have grown back a little bit but I am going to continue to polish them.

Thanksgiving Nails

Here are my nails for Thanksgiving. They really don't go with what you think of when you think of Thanksgiving but they matched my shirt :)

I used OPI Funky Dunky as the base. I am in love with this color. I think it's going to be my go to purple creme. I love the color, the application and just everything about it. It's amazing!

I applied a layer of Seche Vite over the purple let it dry and then taped off a section for the black. I used one coat of China Glaze Lquid Leather.
Then with a very small dotting tool I put a stripe of China Glaze Cheers to you. I find I have more control with a dotting tool than a brush. Either way isn't much as you can see.
Then I topped it off with another coat of Seche Vite. My shirt was my insperation. and I think it went perfectly well with it. I don't have a picture of the shirt but I will edit one in for you :)

Color Club Hot Like Lava

I am starting to realize that I love Color Club. Their polish is amazing, amazing colors and formula. Today I have Hot Like Lava from their Foiled collection.
I didn't have my bottle handy so I had to take a crappy hand picture. I am glad I took this when I did because I ended up breaking a few of my nails fairly bad. I ended up cutting them after this :(
This is two coats of color, I could of gotten away with one but I did two just to give it a little more and I am glad I did. This is my favorite pink. So shiny and pretty! I would strongly recommend this color even to people who don't like pink.(I am one of the people who doesn't like pink.)  It is just stunning!

Cleanser

My eyes hurt after so much bling and whatnot and I was feeling down after some fails so I just kept it fairly simple with some black tips.
I layered a coat of Sea and be Seen by Sally Hansen over two coats of Shower Together by China Glaze.
The I finished it off with some tips using Liquid Leather by China Glaze. Topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite and called it good. Kept it kind of simple.

Color Club Red-Ical Gypsy

I am back! Miss me? Lol I apologize for being gone so long I had a lot of nail fails and got busy with Thanksgiving and family. I secretly hate the Holidays they are soooo stressful. Any who on to nails!
Today I have for you Red-ical Gypsy by Color Club. It's a dark red jelly it's so pretty!

I had a little trouble with the application it really didn't want to work with me. I used two coats but I could of done three. It's also without Top Coat. It is really shiny on it's own.
I am also working on getting my collection page up and running. Just a few more things and it shall be up :)

Zoya Crystal - Pic Heavy

Halloween night I was sitting up at work bored out of my mind so I got on my phone and looked at my Facebook and I saw Zoya was having a Halloween Treat sale. Two free bottles of Zoya! I was all over it! I hoped my phone would pull up the website and would let me order it before the sale closed and lo and behold it did!! I got them Saturday and had to put one on! I choose Crystal and she didn't disappoint. It was hard for me to capture her beauty on camera, she is one of those you have to see in person but here she is.

I am not even going to break up the pictures with words. I don't know where to begin to describe her. She is  a metallic powder blue but yet bright at the same time. She has gold glassflecks? Gold shimmer? Is she a foil with gold shimmer instead of sliver? This is two coats and they went on like a dream! She is just amazing, kind of reminds me of the girl I am crushing on just mind blowing amazing!!
Until Next Time.

Winter Nails

It doesn't get that cold here in Oklahoma but the other night it was cold. It kind of made me crave winter so I came in and looked through my stash wondering how to translate winter to my nails my eyes wondered across two wonderful cool colors and my head was screaming "Yes!"
I pulled out Blue Year's Eve by China Glaze and Color Club Sugarplum Fairy. I used Blue Year's eve as the base and Sugarplum Fairy on the tips. That seemed too blah so I decided I was going to try my hand at a drag marble. It turned out decent I dragged too hard at some spots and it left bare nail in it's wake but over all I don't think it was too horrible.

With a fresh coat of Blue Year's Eve on I put a little bit of Sugarplum Fairy on the tips and took a toothpick and dragged it from my tips up to my cuticles. On my accent nail I covered half of my nail with Sugarplum Fairy and dragged across my nail.
This shot shows some of the detail better. This manicure was so amazing I want to do it again with different color combos. Hopefully my next one will turn out better.

Green Sponging - Fail

I had three Julep greens and I wanted to see what they looked like so what better way than a sponge? It looked so much better in my head but it just turned out as a big fat fail on my nails.
By it's self in the top photo. I started out with a base of white to help the colors pop and then started off with Diane at the base then worked into Emilie and then Selena. I think maybe if I did it differently it would of turned out better? I don't know. I had to figure out how to make this manicure bearable and I thought about Sally Hansen Diamonds.
I put two kind of thick coats of Diamonds on top of it and it turned out a bit more bearable. When the light hit it all I could see was the shine and shimmer of diamonds. I think I am going to be using this polish a lot. Maybe I should go buy a back up while I can still get it on sale. I ended up taking it off the second I got home the next day. It was just wrong.
My next manicure was a total win though!! I don't even know if I can wait to post it after this one. Lol.

Color Club Funky French

I was kind of feeling blah and kind of wanted something simple and kind of toned down. So I decided on a nude and that was a little too blah so I added some purple tips.
Both of these are from the Back to Boho collection from Color Club. I used Nomadic in Nude as my base. It's a good safe color, but I don't like to play it safe. Too boring. The tips and accent nail are Rad Nomad. There were still a little too blah so I added a coat of Snow Globe from China Glaze.
Snow Globe is from the new Holiday collection. I knew the second I saw swatches of it I had to have it. I happened to go by Sally's one day and they had it! I snatched it right up! It's so pretty! It's pastel glitter. If that makes any sense.
It was so pretty I had to give it two pictures. I can't wait to try this over other polishes!
Until Next Time,

Finger Paints Groovy Green

I hadn't wore green in a while so I thought I would wear a green. I will be the first to say green is not my cup of tea. The color it's self isn't appealing to me. It's just kind of dull to me. That being said here is a picture of Finger Paints Groovy Green from the Peace Love and Color collection this summer.
This is not groovy at all. The polish was a little on the thick side and streaky even after it dried and I added my topcoat. I would describe it as a light green shimmer bordering on metallic. The color is decent but I don't think I will do it again on it's own. Maybe as an accent color or a tip. It's just too much for me.

Guest Post

I did my best friends nails a while back ago and I am going to have to do mine like these SOON. Sorry about the lack of clean up her nails are a pain to work with. She told me that her fingers look like toes in this picture. :)
For this look I used China Glaze White on White. The sponging is all Orly from the Happy Go Lucky Collection. I started off with Frisky at the cuticle then Frolic and Flirty at the tips. She loves sparkles so I used a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust. (It's not visible in my pictures but it's there) I think sponging is one of my favorite techniques.

Sparkley Awesomeness!

I was going to go see my best friends and I had to have nails that were AMAZING so after many hours of going insane trying to figure out what I wanted to do and many more hours trying to figure out what color scheme to do I still had to narrow my choice down to three colors. And this is what I came up with. Might I say I was so happy with the way they turned out. :)

 I love this look!

I used Confetti Black Tie as the base for all of my fingers then I sponged on Milani HD near my cuticles the China Glaze Cheers to You. (This is my favorite silver foil) On the tips I sponged Milani Silver Dazzle from their One Coat Glitter line. On my accent nail I sponged on a little bit of white under the skully to make her pop out more. The Skull and Star are from the Kiss Halloween Nail Decals.
My mom loved this look so much she had me do something similar to it on hers. In fact I think the only difference was her accent nail, it was just a glow in the dark :) I didn't get any pictures of it though :(

China Glaze Funky French

I went on a binge of funky french tips. I did like four or five of them in a row which is unheard of for me. This is one of them.
For this I used a base of China Glaze Black Diamond and for the tips I used China Glaze 108 Degrees. I didn't care much for this one. It didn't turn out like I wanted it to. I thought the pink would be more in your face than it was. I am all about the in your face factor. :)

Halloween Mani!

This is my NOTD for halloween. I can't believe I am actually getting a NOTD up. Lol It's very simple and kind of blah but I have tried my hand at nail art before and we just don't mix. But anywho Pictures!

This is one coat of Julep Natasha as my base. It is almost a one coat orange. It's kind of awesome. You can still see nail line but it's one of those that is never really opaque. Over that I put a coat of China Glaze Dreamsicle. Its Holographic glitter in an orange jelly base. On the ring finger I used a coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust. I am just going to assume everyone knows what Fairy Dust is :) I then used Sinful Colors Secret Admirer for the tips and the decals are from Kiss. I went hog wild on these and bought like 15 packs. Lol Love them.

LA Girl Punk

Today I have LA Girl Punk for it. It is an amazing blue I am going to say glassfleck with a purple flash. It was a pleasant surprise when I got it on the nail. I almost didn't buy it but I am glad I did. :) The application was nice went on smoothly and it covered well. I think my pictures might be three coats for maximum color I could of gotten away with two though.

Orly Charged Up and OPI Funky Dunky

Today I have the comparison that I said I would put up a while back ago. I am sorry it took me so long to get it up.

Pinky and middle finger Funky Dunky Ring and Index Charged Up
I stated in my post that they are dupes but as you can see they are not. Orly is a few shades darker than the OPI but the formula on the Orly is no bueno. I used three coats of the Orly and if you look closely you can see some bald spots. Funky Dunky is a dustier purple and a little lighter. It was two effortless coats though. Funky Dunky is my first OPI and I love it. I think I am going to have to invest in some more. :)

Huge Fail turned into Meh

I wore this a long time ago. This is Grey's Anatomy by Wet & Wild and Oxidized Aqua Crackle Glaze by China Glaze. Grey's Anatomy was a long time lemming of mine. I had seen it all over and I knew I had to have it. It looked like such an amazing polish but when I got it home and used it I was MAJORLY disappointed. I couldn't get it to look anything like what I had seen. I used two coats and still had VNL it was just bad. So when all else fails and when a polish fails this bad it's time for Crackle. I put China Glaze Oxidized Aqua over and had something I could work with. So enough rambling.

As you can see in the above two pictures the craptastic polish I got. You can really see it in the second one.

Here it is with the crackle over it. The look is subtle but I like it. I will most likely use Grey's Anatomy as a base for sponging and other nail art stuff but NEVER alone. Please don't take me wrong I love Wet and Wild but this is just a fail.
Until Next Time,
JessieMae

Blah Flipping Blah!!!

I started writing a post explaining why I have been gone for so long and went to write up a post about polish to almost get it done and lo and behold I realize I have already done a post for that color. UG! I guess I am going to spend today sorting out my pictures so that doesn't happen again. I will do an actual post later tonight. I promise. I have wore some pretty amazing colors lately that I want to share with all of you.
My deepest Apologies,

Essence @Holographics

Today I have for you one of the Essence @Holographic polishes. This is Gagalectric. Its not a holographic but a duochrome. It has a purple base and it flashes green, purple sometimes blue. I tried to capture everything about the polish but no avail. This is one coat layered over Fingerpaints Amethyst Atelier. Sorry about the shape my cuticles are in. I haven't found an cuticle oil yet. If you have any suggestions please feel free.

Ulta Blue Streak

Today I have for you Ulta Blue Streak. It's an amazing blue creme it's bright without being neon. I would have to say it's my all time favorite blue. I really don't know what else to say about it so I guess I will let the picture speak for it's self.
The new Ulta bottle is so pretty but I don't understand why they changed it put less polish in it and raised the price. People continue to amaze me.

I will get my haul post up soon. I kind of wanted to wait until I had another haul to post so I didn't have two small haul posts and just combine it into one haul post. I am going to include reviews of a few of the polishes I have already worn as well.

Until next time,
JessieMae

LA Girl Addict

I am not a huge red person. I am very picky about my reds. I love me a true red but I just had to have this one. This is LA Girl Addict from the Rockstar collection. I guess I would describe it as a jelly with gold glass flecks.I thought it would be a little darker but it's still amazing. It's a little too pink for me but the name makes up for it. Lolol This is two coats they went on like a breeze. It seemed to take forever to dry. I didn't put a top coat on it before I went to bed and it was still a little sticky when I woke up. All in all this is a great color. I love it.
I went to Ulta yesterday for the Butter London BOGO and I only got two, the colors didn't impress me or they reminded me of something I already had. I am very weary of buying polish though because I don't want to end up getting a dupe of something I already have. Saves me money that way. :) I will post my haul pictures from yesterday tomorrow or later tonight.
Until Next Time,
JessieMae

My First sponging attempt!

Hey guys! I thought I would show you my first attempt at sponging. I don't think I did too bad but practice makes perfect. I think this is going to be my go to when I want to do something different with my nails. It doesn't take too much time nor does it make a huge mess. For this mani I used Sweet Peacock by Orly as the base and then I sponged Cheers to you by China Glaze in the middle and then the tips are Alter Ego by Ulta then on the accent nail I used a base of Cheers to You then the middle I used Sweet Peacock and then the tip Teeny Greeny Bikini by Sally Hansen from the Xtreme Wear line. After like the first day of wear the colors started to fade together and you really couldn't see the color separation as well but all in all I like this mani.
Have an amazing Sunday!

Simple Nail Art

Today's post is going to be a short one. About to leave to go car shopping! I can't wait!

This is Orly Rock Solid from the new Mineral FX collection. The minute I saw this color I knew I had to have it. It's grey, and a holo glitter it was love at first stroke. The formula was excellent needed two coats for full coverage. Then I taped off a little section and used OPI Funky Dunky. Funky Dunky is a dupe (color wise) to Orly Charged up but the formula on Funky Dunky is far better than charged up. Will post a comparison soon. Then I topped it of with LA Colors Art Deco stripers in Black and Silver. This had got to be one of my all time favorite looks.
Until Next Time,
JessieMae
